Matched Betting
Anyone still doing this. Remember people were making about a grand a month on the side a few years back. The bookies must have wised up by now!

Re: Matched Betting
2Bob - yea it's broadly the same promotion. 365 pay out if your team goes 2 goals up. Will Hill pay out if your team scores the first goal.

Re: Matched Betting
This is strange, I was only just looking into this last night and was thinking of posting on here today.

I've never opened any betting accounts ever. Just started researching into it.

Worth doing?

Re: Matched Betting
If you don't have any accounts, absolutely worth it

Re: Matched Betting
I think there is money to be made just not a lot. As in it will never overtake your main job, just a little extra cash on the side.

Re: Matched Betting
Mace, out of interest, do you back clear favorites or just whatever you fancy? Just singles to win I guess?

Re: Matched Betting
Terrywait - it's not gambling, you have to totally forget gambling. It's risk free bettting and as for what to bet on, it depends what the bookie is offering ...

Mace66 5:20 Thu Jan 24
Re: Matched Betting
As an example, Bet365 2 up offer - i won £1200 a while back backing Southampton to beat ManU for zero risk. ie. i'd backed them at Bet365 and laid the bet on an exchange ( similar to betfair but one with less commission) Southampton went 2 up, Bet365 pay out, game ends up 2-2.

Mace66, I've pm'd you

Re: Matched Betting
mace - in your example - your not looking to take anything out of a promotion amount (like a normal matched bet) just getting a risk free option on the 2 up win?

Mace66 5:27 Thu Jan 24
Re: Matched Betting
Heath - in the example, you win in the bookie and the exchange. If the 2 up / early payout doesn't happen it's a normal matched bet , win/lose in bookie .... lose/win in the exchange. If it does happen you can wait for a turnaround or cashout early in the exchange for an overall profit

Re: Matched Betting
So you are basically describing some sort of arbitrage trading rather than betting. Does that sound about right?
